Privacy Policy - Mood Journal
Privacy Policy for Mood Journal
Introduction
Welcome to Mood Journal. It is a mood tracking application that helps you log your emotions, track habits and routines, journal your thoughts, and practice meditation. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use our App.
We built Mood Journal with your privacy in mind. This policy is written to be clear and straightforward, not full of legal jargon you have to decode.
Information We Collect
Information You Provide Directly
- Mood logs: The moods you select, intensity levels, and any notes you attach to each entry
- Journal entries: Text you write in the Daily Reflection or journaling features
- Habit and routine data: Habits you create, tracking status (completed, skipped, missed), and streak history
- Avatar selection: Your chosen avatar style and customization options
- Onboarding responses: Any preferences or goals you share during initial setup
Information Collected Automatically
- App usage data: How you interact with features (e.g., which screens you visit, session length) — used only to improve the App's experience.
- Device information: Device type, operating system version, and app version, mainly for troubleshooting and compatibility.
- Crash and performance data: Technical logs if the App crashes or encounters an error, so we can fix bugs.
Information We Do NOT Collect
- We do not collect your name, email, or phone number unless you voluntarily provide them (for example, if you contact support).
- We do not access your contacts, camera, or location.
- We do not use your mood or journal data to serve you targeted advertising.
How We Store Your Data
Mood Journal is designed to keep your personal data mood logs, journal entries, and habit tracking stored locally on your device using secure on-device storage. This means:
- Your entries are not automatically uploaded to external servers.
- You retain full control over your data on your own device.
- If you delete the App, your locally stored data will be removed from that device.
(If your version of Mood Journal includes optional cloud backup or account sync, that section should be added here, specifying what is synced, where it's stored, and how it's encrypted.)
How We Use Your Information
We use the information collected to:
- Provide core App functionality (displaying your mood history, streaks, and journal entries back to you)
- Improve app performance and fix bugs
- Understand general usage patterns to guide feature improvements
- Respond to your support requests, if you contact us
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
Data Sharing and Third Parties
Mood Journal does not share your mood, journal, or habit data with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.
Limited technical service providers may be used for:
- Crash reporting / analytics tools: To help us identify and fix technical issues (if enabled)
- App store platforms: Google Play or Apple App Store, which may collect standard install/usage metrics under their own privacy policies
If any third-party service is integrated (such as an analytics SDK), it will be listed here along with a link to that provider's privacy policy.
Your Choices and Rights
You have control over your data within the App:
- Edit or delete entries: You can update or remove mood logs, journal entries, and habits at any time
- Delete your data: Uninstalling the App removes locally stored data from your device
- Notifications: You can turn on/off reminders and notifications through your device settings or in-app preferences
Depending on your region, you may have additional rights under laws like the GDPR (EU) or CCPA (California), including the right to request a copy of your data or ask for its deletion. Contact us using the information below to exercise these rights.
Data Security
We take reasonable technical measures to protect your information, including secure on-device storage practices. However, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children's Privacy
Mood Journal is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can address it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal reasons. We will notify you of significant changes through the App or by updating the "Last Updated" date above.
